  Gupta Period (319 A.D - 540 A.D) Hanuman STUDIES In the 4th century A.D a new dynasty, the Guptas, arose in Magadha and established a large kingdom. Their rule lasted for more than 200 years. This period is referred to as the 'classical age' or 'golden age' of ancient India and was perhaps the most prosperous period of the Indian History.
