What is PM INTERNSHIP Scheme?

The Prime Minister's Internship Scheme, launched on October 3, 2024, aims to provide 1.25 lakh internships for one crore youth across 24 sectors, focusing on real-world experience through an online portal and partnering with ethical companies to enhance employability and support India's economic growth.

Eligibility for the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme

- Age: Candidates must be aged 21 to 24 years.

- Nationality: Only Indian nationals are eligible.

- Employment Status: Candidates should not be employed full-time or engaged in full-time education.

- Distance Learning: Candidates enrolled in online or distance learning programs can apply.

- Application Portal: Applications can be submitted through the PM Internship Portal starting October 12, 2024.

- Internship Target: The project aims to provide 1.25 lakh internships for the Financial Year 2024-25.

- Educational Qualifications:  - Passed High School or Higher Secondary School.

  - Hold a certificate from an ITI (Industrial Training Institute).

  - Possess a diploma from a polytechnic institute.

  - Graduated with degrees such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, or B.Pharma.

Ineligibility for the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme

- Graduates from:
  - IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology)

  - IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management)

  - National Law Universities

  - IISER (Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research)

  - NIDs (National Institutes of Design)

  - IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology)

- Holders of Qualifications:
  - CA (Chartered Accountant)

  - CMA (Cost Management Accountant)

  - CS (Company Secretary)

  - MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)

  - BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery)

  - MBA (Master of Business Administration)

  - Any master’s degree or higher qualification

- Currently Engaged In:
  - Skill training, apprenticeships, internships, or student training under Central or State government schemes.

- Apprentices under:
  - National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS)

  - National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS)

- Family Income: If the income of any family member exceeds Rs 8 lakh for the Financial Year 2023-24.

- Government Employees: Family members of permanent or regular government employees.
