Commonwealth Games 2022 Day 7 report for India

Commonwealth Games 2022 is commencing in Birmingham and on the 7th day of Commonwealth Games the following achievements were received by India:

Wins:

  • Indian Judoka Tulika Maan claimed Silver medal in women's 78 category after losing to Scotland's Sarah Adlington. This is India's third medal in Judo this Commonwealth Games.
  • Indian weightlifter Gurdeep Singh bagged the Bronze in the men's 109 plus kg final with a combined weight ofu 390 kg.
  • India's Saurav Ghosal clinched the bronze medal in squash men's singles by beating James Willstrop of England.
  • India's Tejaswin Shankar won India's first medal in athletics at the Commonwealth Games 2022 by clinching bronze in the men's high jump final.
  • Lovepreet Singh bagged a bronze medal in men's 109 kg weightlifting and set a national record in clean and jerk round.
  • In Boxing, three Indian puglists, including Nikhat Zareen, advanced to their Semi-Finals to their respective events.
  • Indian women's cricket team also qualified for the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games cricket after beating Barbados.

  • Boxer Amit Panghal has assured India at least a bronze medal with a win over Scotland's Lennon Mulligon in the men's flyweight quareter-final.
  • Boxer Jasmine Lamboriya defeated New Zealand's Troy Garton in the women's lightweight quarter-final by split decision and was assured of a medal.
  • Puglist Sagar Ahlawat also reached the semifinal by beating Seychelles Keddy Evans Agnes in the men's super heavyweight category.
  • Hima Das won her 200 m heat and qualified for the semifinal.
  • In the men's hockey with the help of hat-trick by Harmanpreet, India defeated Wales and entered the semi-final.
  • Shuttler PV Sindhu begins her women's single campaign with a win against Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq of Maldives.
  • In Table Tennis mixed doubles, India's Sanil Shetty and Reeth Tennison defeats Malaysia's Wong Qi Shen and Tee Ai Xin.
  • In men's singles Raj Aravindan Alagar defeated England's Dan Bulle.
  • In Badminton, Kidambi Srikanth defeated Ugandas Daniel Wanagaliya and entered the Round of 16.
  • In mixed doubles, India's B Sumeeth Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa lost to England's Callum Hemming and Jessica Pugh.
  • In Squash India's Sunayna Kuruvilla and Anahat Singh defeated Sri Lanka's Yeheni Kuruppu and Chanithma Sinaly in straight games.
  • In men's doubles, Velavan Senthikumar and Abhay Singh defeated Birtish Virgin Islands pair Luca Reich and Joe Chapman.
  • In mixed doubles, India's Joshana Chinappa and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu lost to Donna Lobban and Cameron Pilley.
  • In Para Powerlifting, India's Manpreet Kaur placed fourth in Women's lightweight Final.
  • So far India has won Five Gold, Six Silver and Seven Bronze.
