14th BRICS Summit was held on 23 - 24 June 2022 was convened under the chairmanship of President Xi Jinping of China.

India's prime minister Shri Narendra Modi led India's participation at the 14th BRICS summit convened under the chairmanship of president Xi Jinping of China on 23 - 24 June 2022. The summit has been convened in a virtual format.

Countries in BRICS are: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

From Russia: President Vladimir Putin
From India: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi
From China: President Xi Jinping
From South Africa: President Cyril Ramaphosa

On 23rd June the leaders held discussions on various concerns including Counter terrorism, Trade, Health, Traditional Medicine, Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Agriculture, Technical and Vocational Education and Training.
Apart from these topics they have also held discussions on the key issues in the global context.

India's Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi called for strengthening of the BRICS identity and proposed establishment of Online Database for BRICS Documents.

India will be organizing BRICS startup event to this year to strengthen connection between Startups in BRICS countries. At the conclusion of the summit the BRICS Leaders sdopted the 'Beijing Decleration'.

On 24th June 2022, the High Level Dialogue on Global Developement was held.

Evolution of BRICS

The leader of BRIC (Btrazil, Russia, India and China) countries met for the first time in St. Petersburg, Russia in July 2006. Afterwards in Septemper 2006 the group was formalised as BRIC during the 1st BRIC Foreign Ministers' meeting.

After a series of high level meetings, the 1st BRIC summit was held in Yekaterinburg, Russia on 16 June 2009.

BRIC group was renamed as BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) after South Africa was accepted as a full member at the BRIC Foreign Ministers' meeting in New York in September 2010. South Africa attented the 3rd BRICS summit in Sanya, China on 14th April 2011.
