1. Draupadi Murmu takes oath as India's 15th President

  • The First Lady of India Ms Draupadi Murmu was sworn in as the 15th President of India on 25th July 2022. She was administered oath by Chief Justice of India N. V. Ramana at the Central Hall of Parliament.
  • She is the first tribal person and the second woman to held this position. The age of Draupadi Murmu is 64 years and she is the youngest President of the Country. She is also the first president of India who is born after the Independence.
  • Draupadi Murmu joined politics in 1997 and was elected Councillor in Rairangpur, Odisha. She served twice as an MLA from Rairangpur Assembly and once as Minister for Commerce, Transport, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development in Odisha.
  • On 18th May 2015, she took oath as Governor of Jharkhand. She was the first woman Governor of the State and the first female tribal leader to serve as governor in any Indian State.

2. 10th Death Anniversary of Late Shri Harmohan Singh Yadav

  • On the 10th Death Anniversary of Late Shri Harmohan Singh Yadav, Prime Ministeer Narendra Modi addressed the program and said that social justice means equal opportunity for every section of the society and the country will only go forward when women, dalits, divyangs, backwards and tribals of the country will go forward, which will happen through education.
  • Shri Harmohan Singh Yadav (18 Cotober 1921 - 25 July 2012) was a towering figure and leader of the Yadav community. He was active in politics for a long time and served in variuos capacities as MLC, MLA, member of Rajya Sabha and chairman of 'Akhil Bhartiya Yadav Mahasabha'.
  • He was awarded Shaurya Chakra in 1991 for his display of valour in protecting the lives of several Sikhs during the 1984 anti - Sikh riots.

3. Wasifa Nazreen: First Bangladeshi to scale world's second highest peak K2

  • Mountaineer Wasifa Nazreen of Bangladesh became first Bangladeshi to scale the world's second highest peak K2 in Pakistan. A climb to any mountain technically complete when the climber returns back to the base camp from the peak.
  • She climbed the 8,611 meters or 28,251 feet high K2 mountain peak.
  • Wasifa Nazreen climbed the Mount Everest in 2012. She is the second woman from Bangladesh to do so.

4. Sri Lanka's Presidential office reopened on 25 July 2022

  • Sri Lanka's Presidential office reopened on 25 July 2022 after the removal of anti - governmental demonstrators from colonial - era building.
  • The Presidential building was occupied earlier this month by protesters angered by island nations unprecedented economic crisis.

5. Nepalese government declares the year 2023 - 2033 as the 'Visit Nepal Decade'

  • The Nepalese government has announced the numerous measures to revive the tourism industry battered by the COVID - 19 Pandemic, including a plan to declare the years 2023 - 2033 as the 'Visit Nepal Decade'.
  • Nepal's Minister for culture, tourism and civil aviation, Jeevan ram Shreshta unveiled the Tourism Rehabilitation Action Plan to promote tourism, a major foreign exchange earner and job creator for the country.
  • The government has planned to attract 1 million foreign tourists in the 2022 - 2023 fiscal year which began in mid - July. Under the new action plan, Nepal will launch promotion campaigns in China, India and Bangladesh under the new action plan.

6. Create for India started for the Commonwealth Games

  • Sports authority of India started 'Create for India' campaign to cheer for team India.
  • Commonwealth Games is going to start from July 28 in Birmingham. A 215 member Indian athlete contingent across 16 disciplines is all set to participate in the Commonwealth Games. Sports Authority of India has started a initiative to cheer for Team India.
