1. Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated across the country

  • Every year 26th of July is celebrated as kargil Diwas. It is celebrated to mark the victory of the Indian armed forces in Operation Vijay in 1999. They evicted the infiltrators backed by the Pakistani army from high outposts in the Kargil sector.
  • The Kargil war was fought for more than 60 days and ended with India regaining control over all the previously held territory.
  • The victory of Tiger Hill was one of the crucial achievements in the 60 day long conflict.

2. Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), amended

  • The Central Government has amended the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Rules, 2022 aiming to reduce the compliance burden on citizens.
  • As per the amended rule any person receiving Foreign contributions of more than 10 lakh rupees in a financial year from relatives has to intimate the Central Government within three months of receipt.
  • earlier such monetary threshold limit was one lakh rupees and intimation to central government was required within 30 days.

3. Defence Ministry approved 28,732 Crore

  • The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh approved Arms Procurement Proposals woth 28 thousand 732 crore under buy Indian Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured (IDDM) that will give a boost to the AtmaNirbharta in Defence.

4. Family Courts' Amendment Bill, 2022

  • The Lok Sabha passed the Family Courts' Amendment Bill, 2022 by voice vote it on 26 July 2022. It validates the existence of the three family courts in Himachal Pradesh and two in Nagaland with retrospective/backdated effect.
  • The family courts located at Shimla, Dharmashala and Mandi in Himachal Pradesh will come into force with a retrospective effect of February 15th 2019.
  • The family courts located at Dimapur and Kohima in Nagaland will into force with retrospective effect from November 12th 2008 on enactment of the Bill.

5. Five more Indian wetlands got Ramsar recognition as wetlands of International importance

  • Five more Indian wetlands have got Ramsar recognition as wetlands of international importance.
  • These includes three wetlands in Tamil Nadu namely Karikili Bird Sanctuary, Pallikaranai Marsh Reserve Forest and Pichavaram Mangrove, Pala Wetland in Mizoram and Sakhya Sagar in Madhya Pradesh.
  • There are now a total of 54 Ramsar sites in India. Ramsar Sites are wetlands of international importance that have been designated under the criteria of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands for containing representative, rare or unique wetland types or for their importance in conserving biological diversity.

6. National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) launched subsidiary for manure management

  • The launch of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB),s subsidiary NDDB MRIDA Limited, for manure management was done Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala.
  • National dairy Development Board (NDDB) has established NDDB MRIDA Limited, an Unlisted Public Limited Company under the Companies Act, 2013 on 1st of July 2022.
  • The manure management initiatives have potential to generate bio-gas equivalent to 50 percent of India's present LPG consumption and also produce bio slurry equivalent to 44 percent of India's NPK - Nitrogen(N), Phosphorus(P) and Potassium(K) requirement.

7. Russia decided to quit International Space Station after 2024

  • Russia has decided to quit the International Space Station after 2024. Roscosmos's newly appointed chief Yuri Borisov announced the decision on 26 July. President Vladimir Putin was also briefed about it.
  • In spite of this decision, space programme will continue to get top priority and Russia will start putting together a Russian orbital station before 2024, as told by Borisov to Putin..
  • Sending the first man into space and launching of first satellite in the world are among the key accomplishments of the Soviet Space programme.

8. All India Postal Weight Lifting and Power Lifting Competition

  • The 36th All India Postal Weight Lifting and Power Lifting Competition will be organised by Rajasthan Postal Circle Jaipur from 26 July to 29 July. Governor of Rajasthan Kalraj Mishra to inaugurate the competition at Indoor Stadium of Sawai Man Singh Stadium of Jaipur on 26 July.
  • About 160 players of Indian Postal Department from Rajasthan and other circles will participate in the competition.

9. Bengal's Famous 'One Rupees Doctor' Dr. Sushovan Bandopadhyay passes away

  • Padma Shri awardee Dr. Sushovan Bandopadhyay was also fondly known as 'Ek Taka Daktar', has been treating patients for a long time at Bolpur in Birbhum for only 1 rupee per visit. He was 83 years old.
  • In the year 2020, he was honoured with the highest civilian award: the Padma Shri,and in the same year his name was recorded in the Guinness World Records for treating the maximum number of patients.
